The Provincial Municipality of Tambopata is pleased to announce the launch of Procompite Tambopata 2024, which will offer financing to business plans that contribute to the sustainable development of the province. This initiative is in collaboration and with the technical support of the Amazon Business Alliance, a project promoted by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Government of Canada and Conservation International Peru; the Cite Productivo de Madre de Dios; Wyss Academy for Nature; FOREST, a program of USAID and the U.S. Forest Service; and Caritas Peru.
Procompite Tambopata 2024 seeks to finance the transformation of products derived from cocoa, Brazil nuts, bananas, copoazu and palm trees, under a triple impact approach: economic, social and environmental. The companies that apply and are selected will have access to non-reimbursable funds that will enable them to improve their technical-productive processes, thus contributing to an increase in productivity and production quality.
This fund represents a unique opportunity to strengthen the productive capacity of the Tambopata province, promoting sustainability and inclusive economic development. For the first time, the fund includes social and environmental criteria such as the participation of young people and women in leadership areas within the fund. In addition, it will allow the generation of employment, the optimization of natural resources in a sustainable manner, the use of organic inputs or permitted agrochemicals, and the implementation of productive systems that conserve forest cover. Companies that meet these criteria will have a higher score in their application and, therefore, a higher probability of acquiring the fund.
The launching event of Procompite Tambopata 2024, held in Puerto Maldonado, was attended by representatives of the region such as Alfredo Herrera, from the Office of Technical Cooperation and International Relations, and Luis Bocangel, Mayor of the Municipality of Tambopaea Province; in addition to the accompaniment of organizations such as the Association of Amazonian Brazil Nut Collectors of the Madre de Dios region and FOREST.
“Sustainable businesses are an indispensable piece for the development of the region and it is fundamental that the State invests in them. That is why we celebrate the openness of the Provincial Municipality of Tambopata to present an innovative fund such as Procompite Tambopata 2024, in which we incorporate social, economic and environmental sustainability criteria, with a special focus on promoting businesses led by women. This will improve the quality of the indicators, especially in social and environmental aspects”
Finally, Procompite Tambotapa 2024 will co-finance business plans to support the competitiveness and sustainability of production chains. This will benefit the Tambopata Province in the Madre de Dios Region through the development, adaptation, improvement or transfer of technology such as: equipment, machinery, inputs, materials and services for efficient business management, with a positive environmental and social impact.
The Provincial Municipality of Tambopata invites all interested Mypes to participate in this important boost for the sustainable growth of the region. To participate in the Procompite contest, you can register and download the forms in PRODUCE Virtual.
