How to apply

The main objective of the project is the valorization of Amazonian biodiversity and forest conservation, through the promotion of the sustainable use of medicinal and aromatic plants by the Nuwa Forest Association. The production and commercialization of Nuwa infusions, in collaboration with the Natural Products Laboratory of the Takiwasi Center, is the key strategy to achieve this.

In addition to improving the economic income and quality of life of the indigenous women who make up the association, the project promotes the recovery and valorization of ancestral knowledge related to medicinal plants, as well as to provide technical assistance to increase production, guaranteeing the sustainability of the value chain and promoting the responsible use of the Amazon’s natural resources.

NUWA'S FOREST ASSOCIATION

The Nuwa's Forest is a space protected by the women of the native community of Shampuyacu and led by a working committee that represents them. After having lost most of their forest cover, the women organized themselves to request a space in the Communal Reserve Forest to plant medicinal plants in order to rescue their ancestral knowledge, revalue their culture, and confront one of the main problems facing the community, deforestation.
