The project addresses the problem of deforestation in the San Martin region, where the expansion of cultivated areas is the main cause of deforestation and affects small and medium-sized producers who need to relocate their crops to new soils to maintain their income. To achieve this, they propose a sustainable solution through the implementation of agroforestry production systems, training and adequate technical assistance for ACOPAGRO’s small cocoa producers.
It also works to include women and youth in the production process through inclusive technical assistance and gender training. The objective is to conserve 8,000 hectares of residual forest on the farms, promote organic certification and fair trade, and comply with new global market regulations for environmental conservation.
